Oregon Trail settlers traveled through Ladd Marsh from 1843 – 1890. Historical evidence indicates two routes that were followed. In later years (1868), a new route was established close to present-day Foothill Road, avoiding wet ground on the flats, which mired the narrow-wheeled wagons. An illustrated narrative about this segment of the Oregon Trail is available under the Education Heading, or by clicking here.
On the following map, the dated Oregon Trail routes are indicated in red.
