Bird Festival weekend has arrived ! ! ! Events begin this Friday, May 18, with field trips, registration, and an evening program by local Globe-trotting, bird-watching photographer Kendrick Moholt, at the La Grande Senior Center. The festivities continue on Saturday, with guided birding at hotspots throughout the marsh, and more field trips. Saturday’s forecast is for partly sunny with a high of 71F. Sounds like a perfect day to round up the kids, grandparents and friends and head for the marsh! There will be plenty of activities for the whole family.

We can’t wait to See YOU on the Marsh!
It’s time for some spring cleaning on Ladd Marsh. Yes, it seems as though spring may actually be here and the Bird Festival is not far behind. Come on out and help clean up the marsh for all our festival visitors, human and avian. Saturday, May 5 at 9:00 a.m. Meet at Ladd Marsh HQ (59116 Pierce Rd). We will provide trash bags, nitrile gloves, some leather gloves and a limited number of picker-upper thingys. Participants will receive a permit to be on the area for the day after finishing the clean up. Come on out and pick up trash and you can have a smile like these folks from a few years ago.
Participants should dress appropriately for the weather, recognizing the potential for wet ground and strong wind. Please leave pets at home or make other arrangements.
Directions to Ladd Marsh HQ: From La Grande, take the Union Highway (203) to Pierce Rd (B&K Auto Salvage). Turn right (south) on Pierce. Continue for approximately 1 ¼ mile to HQ on the right.
From Union, turn left on Pierce Rd and follow above directions.
HQ can be reached from I-84: Take exit 268 (Foothill Rd) then turn east. At the “T” with Pierce Rd, turn left (north). Continue about 1 1/2 mile to HQ on the left.
With apologies to those who tried to register earlier and thank for your patience, online registration for the 2018 Ladd Marsh Bird Festival is now open. Click on the Bird Festival tab and select “Events and Registration” to sign up for the festival (free) and/or for field trips. We have added a few new field trips this year and the fees have changed so we encourage you to spend a little time looking through the descriptions and pay attention to the day the trip is offered. See you at the Bird Festival!
