FOLM Nest Box Maintenance Day: February 22, 2025

Saturday, February 22nd is the annual nest box maintenance day for the Ladd Marsh Wildlife Area (LMWA). Volunteers are needed to cover 10 of the 13 nest box routes on the marsh. Three routes have already been completed.

We will meet at the LMWA HQ at 9:00 am on the 22nd. We will have ODFW volunteer forms for participants to sign and we have complete packets with log sheets, instructions, examples and route maps for each team to check out for the day. Dress in layers and water proof footwear might come in handy.

Each route may take 60 to 90 minutes to complete. We recommend that each team have gloves, a dust mask, paint scraper for cleaning out the box, and a cordless drill with a #2 Phillips head drill bit for opening box doors (nearly all box doors are held closed by one Phillips head screw). We will have a quick orientation before sending parties out into the wildlife area. Some routes require walking, some driving, and some both. We recommend teams of at least two people per route, so bring a friend or we can try to match you up with other volunteers.

We would like to thank all of the members of the FOLM who have renewed their membership for 2025. We greatly appreciate your membership, support, and involvement. If you have not yet renewed for this year, we encourage you to visit www.friendsofladdmarsh.org and either renew online or download the membership form and mail it to the LMWA HQ.

Hope to see you on Saturday.
