The Friends of Ladd Marsh (FOLM) sponsor several events over the course of the year. Some events are informational, and others need volunteers. Our largest event is the annual Bird Festival that takes place the second weekend of May. The Festival typically kicks off Friday night with participant registration, snacks and music, and a guest speaker. A detailed schedule will be available here and on the FOLM Facebook page.
Another event that regularly draws a crowd is the First Saturday bird walk. Held year-round on the first Saturday of each month, the bird walk takes folks to birding locations around the Grand Ronde Valley and gives novice birders a chance to learn more about birds, and veteran birders a chance to share what they know, and perhaps spot a rarity.
Other events on the FOLM calendar include:
- Birdbox cleaning – usually in mid- to late-winter; an excellent opportunity to volunteer your time and learn more about the birds actively using the Marsh.
- Marsh clean-up day – held as needed to help clean up trash and refuge from the Marsh; another excellent opportunity to volunteer and get into places on the Marsh not normally open to the public.
- Annual membership meeting – usually held in early to mid-November, the membership meeting is an opportunity to renew your membership with FOLM, to learn about what we’ve done over the year, and to hear from a guest speaker about some aspect of the Marsh or other wildlife related topic.

Draft evergreen text and identify at least one photo. Refer the reader and link to the News in the fall for the next meeting.
Bird Box Cleanup Day
Draft evergreen text and identify at least one photo. Like the member mtg, this is annual so these two things sort of go together. Tell the reader more info will be posted in the news, and link to that page.

Cindy is working on the Bird Fest layout. It’s a LOT of info and will require some trickery to make it compact and click-worthy.
